Cleanup underway after flooding at Kingston Elem. School

(WBIR - Kingston) Cleanup is underway after flooding closed an East Tennessee elementary school on Thursday.

School officials were notifed late Wednesday that after heavy rains, there was at least an inch of water inside parts of the Kingston Elementary School.

1 killed, 1 hurt in I-40 rollover crash

(WBIR - Roane County) A Knoxville woman died after a crash Friday morning in Roane County.

According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tonya Word, 30, was heading east on I-40 in Kingston when her car went off the road during a turn. The vehicle then flipped several times.

Word's passenger, Dorthy Currie, was also hurt in the crash.

According to the THP report, both women were wearing their seat belts.

Now the woman battling cancer added another accomplishment this week - one that includes giving back to others.

Norfolk Southern denies fault in deadly train accident

Norfolk Southern says it's not at fault for a deadly train crash that killed two people and hurt two others.

The crash last May killed two Roane State Community College basketball players: Roderick Drummond and Jadah Gallaher. Two others were hurt: the driver and Gallaher's brother, Darius Gallaher, and Hunter Crass.

Roane man wins in case of the crunchy crouton

(WBIR) Pizza Hut will have to pay up after a Roane County man sued them for serving "excessively hard croutons."

Evertt Chatman sued the pizza chain after he broke his partial denture after biting into a crouton at the restaurant, claiming its negligence caused him personal injury and personal property loss.

A Roane County judge awarded Chatman $2,400 in the case, plus interest and trial costs.

Suspect in custody for Harriman cemetary vandalism

Investigators believe they know the man responsible for vandalizing a Roane County cemetary.

Last week, someone knocked over several tombstones, stole dozens of vases, and a few benches from the Swan Pond Baptist Church Cemetary in Harriman. They also drove through the grounds and over some graves.
