DA: Facebook posting of fatal shooting victims is "the poorest of taste"

Authorities don't know why crime scene pictures of two murder victims are on display in the front yard of two brothers once charged in the killings.

"It's pretty upsetting for the people who knew Bill and knew Mike and knew the situation," said Roane County chief deputy Tim Phillip said after the discovery of the pictures of former co-worker, Bill Jones, and Jones' ride along passenger Mike Brown.

Last month, we told you about a Roane County native who was preparing for the climb of his life.

Roger Long was planning to summit Mount Kilimanjaro this month, raising money for Parkinson's research.

It's a fight for a cure that's personal; at 36, Long was diagnosed with the disease.

We're happy to share with you that Long made it to the top of the highest mountain in Africa!

Mt. Kilimanjaro is 19,341 feet above sea level.

Family offers reward to find killer of elderly Roane Co. man

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for killing an elderly Roane County man.

Russel Charles Blevins, 85, was shot mulitple times in his home on Hart Orchard Road in Kingston on August 12.  No arrests have been made.

Investigators believe several guns are missing from the home, including an M-1 30 cal, similar to the one in the attached photo.  The serial numbers on the missing guns are not known.

Roane, Campbell enforcing "no refusal" law this weekend

State officials are gearing up for another holiday weekend by focusing on the state's "no refusal" law.

Friday, a number of law enforcement leaders and prosecutors gathered in Knoxville to announce that Roane and Campbell counties will add patrols on Labor Day weekend.

They want to ensure people traveling Tennessee roads are aware of new rules facing suspected truck drivers.

The "no refusal" law took effect in July.

The Labor Day enforcement will focus on 16 counties state-wide.

Federal judge finds TVA liable in ash spill

A federal judge has declared TVA is to blame for the massive 2008 coal ash spill in Roane County and can be held legally liable for property damages. 

The ruling from U.S. District Judge Thomas Varlan comes almost a year after hearing testimony from residents who were suing TVA in September and October of 2011.
