Family offers reward to find killer of elderly Roane Co. man

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for killing an elderly Roane County man.

Russel Charles Blevins, 85, was shot mulitple times in his home on Hart Orchard Road in Kingston on August 12.  No arrests have been made.

Investigators believe several guns are missing from the home, including an M-1 30 cal, similar to the one in the attached photo.  The serial numbers on the missing guns are not known.

"Can't imagine why anyone would do that - to an older person, who loved people like he did," Steve Blevins said, more than 24 hours since he discovered his grandfather, Russel, dead from gunshot wounds.

"He was older, he was feeble... but he was getting around good," he added, describing the 85-year-old widower, who lived in a secluded home off Hart Orchard Road in Kingston.

Developing: Murder investigation in Roane County

Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are in Roane County Monday, assisting in a murder investigation.

TBI confirms they responded to a homicide at 138 Art Orchard Road in Kingston on Sunday evening.  One man was killed. Family says the victim was Russel Blevins, who was in his 80s.

Neighbors say that Blevins was a widower who had lived in the neighborhood for more than 40 years.  They say he lived alone.

The Roane County Sheriff's Office is also on the scene.  They have released no further information.
