A Cookeville man has died nearly two weeks after the car he was riding in went off an Interstate 40 overpass.

Jack Craig, 79, died Friday from injuries he received in the wreck on Saturday, Dec. 27.

The accident happened near mile marker 356 on I-40 eastbound in Roane County. An SUV tried to change lanes and hit a car driven by Norma Craig, 70, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report. Jack Craig was a passenger in the car.

'The collision caused the Craigs' car to drive into the median, go over an embankment and become airborne. The car fell off an overpass onto Gallaher Road below and hit a concrete divider with the passenger's side of the vehicle.

The driver and passenger in the SUV were not injured.

The report indicates troopers issued citations as a result of the crash, but no criminal charges will be filed.
