Teacher OK after being bitten by bat at school | News
(WBIR-KINGSTON) School officials think recent flooding is to blame for a bat that bit a teacher.
Gary Aytes, Director of Roane County Schools, says the teacher was bitten when she reached for what she thought was dust in a wreath hanging in her classroom. Instead, it was a small bat that bit her on the thumb.
The bat did not have rabies, and the teacher is okay.
A professional company was brought in to check the school for other bats, and they didn't find anything. They also looked for openings in the building where animals could get in, and took care of those as well.
