Rocky Houston found guilty on federal gun charge


It took a federal jury less that two hours to find Rocky Houston guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He will be sentenced June 26.

When court resumed Wednesday morning, closing arguments were presented, and the jury got the case at 10:45 and returned with their verdict at 12:35.

Convicted sex offender charged with raping a little girl


A convicted sex offender is charged with sexually assaulting another child.

The Roane County grand jury indicted Christopher John Clark, 49, of Kingston, last month on charges of child rape. The court documents said the victim was a nine year old girl, and the abuse occurred over a 10-month period last year.

Clark is listed on the TBI Sex Offender Registry for a 1992 conviction of criminal sexual conduct of a victim under age 13.


Shawn Smoot's 1st degree murder trial delayed


The trial for a Knoxville man charged with murdering his ex-girlfriend has been delayed.

Shawn Smoot is charged with first degree murder in the death of Brooke Morris in Roane County. She was his former employee and girlfriend.

TVA completes retaining wall at Kingston


More than five years and $1 billion after a catastrophic coal ash spill in Kingston, the Tennessee Valley Authority says it has finally contained the spill.

The TVA recently completed a 12-mile, four-foot-wide underground retaining wall to surround 240 acres of toxic coal ash. The wall was needed in December 2008, when a dike at TVA's Kingston Fossil Plant failed, sending sent 5.4 million cubic yards of coal ash into the Emory and Clinch rivers, polluting the water, destroying three homes and damaging dozens of other homes.

No officers injured in booby trapped meth lab explosion

(WBIR-Rockwood) Officials believe no one was injured when officers entered a booby trapped Rockwood home in their attempt to arrest a drug suspect.

Knoxville man killed in Roane Co. motorcycle crash


(WBIR) A motorcycle crash in Kingston killed a Knoxville man Friday afternoon.

According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report, a motorcycle ran off the road and hit a culvert on Kingston Highway at about 4:40 p.m., killing Rick W. Berry, 62, of Knoxville.
