Mizzou fans are ready for a friendly SEC football game

In less than 24 hours the Vols will kick off at Neyland Stadium for what fans hope will be the first SEC victory of the season.

Fans from the other side are taking on Tennessee in a brand new SEC rivalry.

In September, Gator fans came to town.

In October, Bama fans showed up.

Now it's November, and Mizzou fans are here in Knoxville.

"It was about an 11 or 12 hour drive. 677 miles from home to here," Mizzou fan Ed Kays said.

His RV got just 7 mpg on the trip to Tennessee.

TVA ash to remain in Emory and Clinch rivers

The Environmental Protection Agency has approved a plan by TVA to leave more than 500,000 cubic yards of spilled coal ash at the bottom of the Emory and Clinch Rivers in Roane County.

In December 2008 more than a billion gallons of sludge was unleashed from the TVA Kinston Fossil Plant when a retaining pond failed.  A large portion of that ash went into the Emory River and Clinch River beside the plant.  After a year and a half of dredging the ash out of the water, crews stopped in the summer of 2010 and intentionally left a layer of ash at the river bottom.

HomeGrown: Sen. Lamar Alexander

Senator Lamar Alexander is not only a familiar name in Tennessee politics, but across the country.

"I feel lucky to be doing what I'm doing."

The Maryville native has certainly come a long way.

"I was a little mischievous."

Alexander got his first library card at age three. A year later, he started taking piano lessons at Maryville College. He practiced every morning before school after his paper deliveries.
